APT - Apartment
Description:
A buzz DJ bar in the Meatpacking District. The owners originally refused to post their address anywhere and the bar had no phone. We can reveal it's located on West 13th, behind large green metal doors that just "Open Sesame" when you ring the buzzer. Trendy thirtysomethings in fake fur and name labels are found in the louche, intimate, box-sized basement, a long table partition separating the sections. A small console is set aside for the DJs, cool cats who tend to spin more rarefied grooves here than you'll ever hear in the bigger more commercial venues. All drinks are on offer but try the Pimm's Cup special, which is well worth the 9 bucks a shot and might make you think you're in England.

Bungalow 8
Description: n/a
Created by Amy Saco the brains behind LOT61 this time she's created a private club that is reminiscent of the Beverley Hills Hotel and old Hollywood for passing jet-setters. It plays on an intentional big boy celebrity card via several stumbling blocks: a "no vacancy" sign, a doorman hewn from granite and an expensive menu. If you get in (well done,) soak up the faux poolside theme with potted palm trees and murals while tucking into your Tsar Imperial Osetra caviar at $1,200 a pop. It's small and the over sized booths provide good comfort but if you're really in the club they seek to attract then sit upstairs in the VIP bar and kill an hour here over a refreshing fruity cocktail before being whisked off in your helicopter. Mind you, if you're that rich why leave your real pool for starters?!

Duvet
Description:
Duvet gives diners a new reason to stay in bed! This sexy, bi-level "dining boudoir" features beds (and tables) that scream comfort and relaxation, but with an added luxury: upscale dining of Modern American cuisine with global influences.
Duvet is the brainchild of owner Sabina Belkin, a passionate young restaurateur and nightlife impresario. Designed by Andres Escobar (Cartier Boutique and Guess? store in Toronto) and Edward Belkin, Duvet features 30 customized dining beds, soft satin banquettes, frosted glass bars and seven intimate "bedrooms" that are available for the sexiest, most-talked about private parties.
The main dining room houses 30 custom beds, each of which is larger than a standard king size, overflow with soft, Italian-imported goose-down pillows in beige and gold that sit atop the crisp white 400-count sheets. Each bed is custom designed with French fabric and with a special foam mattress that molds to each person's body as they recline into surprising dining comfort. Silky curtains frame the beds and discreetly placed drawers are available to stash shoes and purses. Customized slippers are also offered to guests. A large, frosted-glass "donut" tray resides in the center of the bed to support cocktails and water glasses with space for bottles of wine and champagne in the center. Rectangular trays can be used as placemats for extra dining comfort. For those who wish to watch the action from afar and dine in traditional fashion, the dining room offers banquette seating for up to 50 people. In true "home" style, Duvet boasts an 84-inch flat-screen plasma television and semi-circular stage that is available for after-hours entertainment.

Guest House
Description:
The Scene: Beg your way past the velvet rope to get to club Home"s second story lounge, where space is limited and the demand for dance floor footing is high. Booths and tables for bottle service are backed by a wooden grid of tiny cubbies housing amber-casting candles, and form a horseshoe around the grooving center, perfect for espying.
The Draw: Black-and-white, Rorschach-inkblot test velvet wallpaper climbs up to the low ceilings and lends the space a Victorian living room vibe. The small dance floor in front of the brick-walled, red lit bar is the place for scantily clad, gorgeous women to teeter on their Jimmy Choos and their suave male counterparts to get close. The DJ booth is raised ever so slightly, and you just might see a live saxophone player perched atop it, jazzing up the DJ"s mellow Euro house.

Movida
Description:
With Niagara, Johnny T. (also known of the Motherfucker parties) cultivated a loyal flock of East Village rockers. Now he offers them a posh multi-level club to romp around in, the first westside complement to rock palaces like the Delancey and Sixes and Eights. The former high-end Russian restaurant has been remade by celeb photographer Dah Len into what he calls a "luxury yacht on a voyage of hedonistic discovery." (Lightboxes of beach sunsets run throughout). Ironically, it still feels like a Moscovite mafia hangout: black marble, a black-lit stripper pole, a chandelier and mirrors, mirrors and mirrors. A low-ceilinged basement offers refuge from the main floor's thumping sound system, which is triggered by a dance-rock DJ in a giant faux bullet hole. With its twinkling-star ceiling and modern cube seats, the upstairs balcony is what the VIP room of the spaceship from 2001: A Space Odyssey probably looked like, although the guys sipping the $250-$425 bottles are dressed more for a Bravery concert than for intergalactic travel.

Pink Elephant
Description:
Named for the fanciful hallucinations that arise from too much drink, this lush nighttime playground's hedge-lined entrance hallway hints at the highly manicured design to come. Inside, polished silver buckets gleam beneath chandeliers strung with pearls and leafy vines crawl along the curvaceous walls. Plush bottle service alcoves undulate and encircle a small, sunken dancefloor, which is fueled by house music, the hottest crowd of NYC and an aromatic scent machine that secretes libido-sparking hormones along with its flowery smells.

PM Lounge NYC (Post Meridien)
Description:
Exclusive late night club lounge in the heart of the terminally trendy Meatpacking District, brought to us by former Donna Karan designer Robert McKinley. It helps to be a name or a face to get past the door, but once inside you're in a cathedral-like temple set under high vaulted ceilings with skylights, worth seeing just on its own. Bare-brick walls and rosewood floors are lined with classy light-brown coloured booths, colourful cocktails are Haitian inspired (which is where the owners come from), and the skimpily-clad wait staff serve spicy tapas to add to the flavour. Drinks-wise you might want to break the bank for fruity specialties such as the tropical-tasting Banana Cremasse made with what we believe was rum but might have been something else. Either way it'll get you doing the splits on the dance floor.

Rainbow Room
Description:
The Rainbow Room is a well-known upscale restaurant and nightclub on the sixty-fifth floor of the GE Building in Rockefeller Center, Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It first opened on October 3, 1934 and was originally conceived as a formal supper club, where the elite and influential of New York could gather to socialize over cocktails, dine on fine cuisine, and dance to the strains of legendary big bands on a revolving floor.
It features a revolving dance floor, a live big band orchestra, and what is generally considered an impressive view of the city. In 1998, the Rockefeller family passed operations of the facilities of the restaurant over to the Italian Cipriani family, which had started the renowned Harry's Bar in Venice.
Private events are hosted in several banquet rooms and for special events and holidays elaborate celebrations are organized. On New Year's Eve, the caviar, truffles, champagne, and mixed drinks are included with the price of admission, for dinner through to breakfast at sunrise.
The Rainbow Grill is a separate, somewhat less expensive restaurant with an à la carte menu on the same floor of the building, which has its own celebrations for main holidays.

Sway
Description:
If you need a place to feel popular or show off your latest fashion buy, Sway is for you. Decked out in Moroccan style (colorful tiles, tall archways, red lanterns), Sway houses booths that are usually tagged with "Reserved" signs. But don't fret; snag one anyway and see how long your fabulousness will let you get away with it. Enjoying their reputation of being pretentious, the style-policing doormen and bartenders do their part to toe the trendy line. A DJ spins techno/hip-hop remixes that keep the young and oh-so-slim crowd (that's schooled on the art of emulating the young, rich, and famous) dancing until past 2am.
